POSITION OBJECTIVE:

 

The position of Early/Extended Learning Specialized Lead Teacher is directly responsible for education and care of children who require individualized or specialized instruction in an inclusive, multi-language or Early Childhood Assistance Education Program (ECEAP).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)


• Observes and assesses the development of children.
• Plans and implements required curricula based on individualized child assessments.
• Guides and interacts with children during age/developmentally appropriate learning activities.
• Designs the classroom environment and maintains a clean, organized and safe environment for children that meets Early Achievers quality standards.
• Implements and supervises developmentally appropriate learning activities.
• Builds positive relationships with children and families.
• Plans and implements guidance strategies for children.
• Engages families in classroom and program planning and activities. May assist families in establishing school readiness goals.
• Maintains records of students which includes documentation of observations, student assessments and child’s work.
• Works with children in a warm and confident manner individually and in group settings.
• Responds appropriately to the needs of children and communicates with parents.
• Works with a diverse population of children, including children with special needs.
• Communicates effectively with staff.
• Works effectively as a team member in planning and implementing appropriate activities.
• Mediates conflicts between children.
• Keeps current on emergency procedures, including child safety drills.
• Attends staff meetings and professional development trainings.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports directly to and is supervised by Site Supervisor


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

 

Required:
• Early Childhood Education State Certificate (47 credits) or Short Certificate (20 credits) or equivalent

 

Preferred:
• Experience working with children with diverse aptitudes and levels of achievement.

 

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):


• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Registration in state electronic workforce registry (Merit)
• Completion of Department of Early Learning background check; TB test
• Completion of applicable in service and/or continuing professional development/training requirements


KNOWLEDGE OF: (position requirements at entry):

• Age and developmentally appropriate practices and activities
• Health, safety, injury prevention and sanitary practices

• Ability to organize and complete tasks
• Works collaboratively with staff and parents
• Demonstrates problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with children and adults
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations
• Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

 

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


This is a general posting for one or more Specialized Lead Teacher positions. Positions may be full or part-time and will be filled as specific openings are identified.


AISP pay range E (starting at $24.70 per hour). This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. A generous benefit package will be included according to Board policy.
